Instructions
-
Grease an 8 x 8 x 2-inch glass baking dish with butter or nonstick spray so the bars release easily. Measure and set aside 2 cups of Rice Krispies cereal in each of three separate bowls — you will use these for the green, white and blue layers.
-
For the first layer (green): place one third of the miniature marshmallows and one third of the butter into a large microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high for about 45–60 seconds, or until the marshmallows puff and the butter has melted. Microwave power varies, so watch closely to avoid burning.
-
Stir in a small amount of green gel food coloring using a toothpick or small spoon until the melted marshmallow mixture reaches the desired Seahawks green. Immediately add the 2 cups of Rice Krispies reserved for this layer and fold until the cereal is fully coated and evenly combined.
-
With buttered hands or a lightly buttered spatula, press the green mixture firmly and evenly into the prepared baking dish to form the first layer. Press gently but firmly so the layer holds together without packing it so tightly that it becomes dense.
-
For the middle (white) layer: repeat the melting process with the next third of the marshmallows and butter. Do not add coloring for this layer — stir in the second bowl of 2 cups Rice Krispies until combined and press this white layer evenly over the green layer, taking care to press lightly so the layers adhere without mixing colors.
-
For the top (blue) layer: melt the final third of the marshmallows with the remaining butter. Add blue gel food coloring and a tiny touch of violet to adjust the hue to a rich Seahawks blue. Stir in the last 2 cups of Rice Krispies and press this mixture evenly over the white layer to complete the three-color effect.
-
Wash and thoroughly dry your hands. Gently press Skittles candies into the top blue layer to decorate — space them to create a pattern or scatter them randomly for a festive look. Allow the bars to cool at room temperature until set, about 20–30 minutes.
-
Once cooled and firm, use a sharp knife to cut the slab into approximately 16 bars. For clean cuts, lightly butter the knife between slices or press the knife firmly in a single smooth motion. Serve the bars on a platter and enjoy.
-
Tips: use gel food coloring for brighter, more concentrated color without thinning the marshmallow mixture. If you’re preparing these ahead of time, store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days to maintain their texture.
